Looking at a creator in your space is one of the fastest ways to learn what your shared audience responds to. Copying them is one of the fastest ways to blend in.

The goal is to understand why their stronger posts work, then use that reason in your own voice.

1. Pick the right creator

Choose someone with a similar audience and a size you can realistically learn from. A creator a few steps ahead of you is often more useful than the biggest name in your niche, because their posts look more like what you can make.

2. Find their stronger posts, relative to them

Compare each post with that creator’s own typical post, not with yours. A post that does well for them shows you something that worked with their audience. Raw view counts on their own mostly tell you how big the account is.

3. Note the pattern, not the content

  • Format: video or photo slideshow, and roughly how long.
  • Hook: what happens in the first line of the caption or the first seconds.
  • Topic: what the post is actually about.
  • Sound: whether they use trending sounds or original audio.
  • Hashtags: which topic tags they use again and again.

4. Check their rhythm

How often do they post, and on which days? Consistency is often part of why an account grows. You do not have to match their schedule, but it helps to know what you are comparing yourself with.

5. Read their comment sections

Their audience’s questions are your opportunity. If people keep asking something the creator never answers, you can make that video.

Turn it into your own tests

  • Write down one pattern you saw in their stronger posts.
  • Make a post that uses that pattern with your own topic, voice and face.
  • Never reuse their script, footage or captions.
  • Compare the result with your own baseline, not with their numbers.

Keep it honest

You only ever see a sample of another creator’s public posts. Use what you find as ideas to test, not as proof of what will work for you.
